Biography

When I was three years old my parents took me to see Disney's Cinderella.  It was then that I knew that I wanted to be an Animator.  I was very fortunate to have incredibly supportive parents; they encouraged me to pursue my goal.   In high school I received a video camera as a graduation gift.  I used this camera to create amateur animation tests.  The number of frames the picture would stay on screen was determined by how fast I was able to double click the record button.  Though rudimentary the passion was ignited and I was hooked.

It has been a goal of mine to strike a balance between work and family, which usually means staying up late to work once my children have gone to bed.  I have a lovely wife whom I stole from Canada, and two sons who are being trained in the ways of animation.  They are my greatest inspiration and have kept me grounded. I am reminded to stop and smell the flowers (usually roses that are painted red).

I love all things animation from 2D to 3D, as well as puppeteering.   My path has led me to make 3D my chosen medium.

Through the course of my career, I have worked in variety of areas and worn many hats.  I have been a successful Modeler, FX artist, and Technical artist.  I am glad to see the video game industry has chosen specialization over generalization.  I find the game industry has improved a great deal by adopting this work flow thus allowing me to focus my efforts on my true passion, the creation of animation.

Currently I am working in the video game industry and have been for some time.  I have also produced work for children’s television and commercials.  Characters and personality are what I find most interesting.  I have found all areas of entertainment rich with character opportunities without finding a particular favorite. So as long there are personalities to explore and characters to conquer I want to continue to explore 3D animation.

I am currently working at Junction Point/Disney Interactive in Austin, Texas. We have a great group of Animators who consistently strive to push for better character acting in video games, I learn so much from them.

Looking forward, I would like to work on more story driven projects where I would be able to better improve my skill and be a more intregal part of the final product.
